‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Jesse Williams Heads To Ferguson October

Posted by admin in Headlines, Miscellaneous, Videos Ι 0 Comments

MTV.com – Some celebrities simply tweet about what moves them, while others, like “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams, get right on the front lines.

Jesse, along with members of the Question Bridge: Black Males video project team, joined protesters from across the country who traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, this weekend for #FergusonOctober, which seeks justice for the killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown and victims of police brutality like him.

“We’ll be archiving the thoughts and concerns of the people and recording Black males asking and answering the questions that matter to them,” Jesse said in a Tumblr post on October 8. You can follow Jesse as he documents his time in St. Louis on his Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram accounts.

The shooting of Brown, an unarmed young black man, in Ferguson, Missouri, sparked demonstrations, protests, vigils and rallies across the country in August and September calling attention to acts of police brutality. This weekend’s protests also came on the heels of another controversial shooting death of an 18-year-old black man, Vonderrit Myers, Jr. of St. Louis.

Those who follow Jesse on social media (his Tumblr is a MUST!) should not be surprised by his trip down south. The actor is known for his outspoken, timely and much-needed responses to everything from “Django Unchained” to racial discrimination.

Demonstrators and the media tracked Williams’ appearances and activities throughout the day and in many cases, Jesse responded in kind.

And it seems as though fans have also taken notice, tweeting their support as well as letting Jesse (and the world) know just how much his activism can inspire young people across the globe.

Jesse is not the only celebrity making a trip for #FergusonOctober. Talib Kweli, dead prez and Jasiri X are among the musicians performing at a free, 18+ Hip Hop 4 Justice concert created by organizers of #FergusonOctober. Kweli previously visited Ferguson after the initial waves of protest. The concert runs today (October 12) from 1 to 6 p.m. CST.

Sarah Drew Drops Major Grey’s Anatomy Baby Scoop and Gets Gourmet on Top Chef Duels

Posted by admin in Grey's Anatomy, Headlines, Projects Ι 0 Comments

EOnline.com – April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) wasted no time after their surprise wedding—the BFFs-turned-newlyweds are already expecting a little bundle of joy on Grey’s Anatomy!

Obviously this means huge things for their fledgling marriage, but does it mean happy times are ahead…or more rough roads to navigate?

“She and Jackson are walking into a pretty gigantic new chapter of their lives together,” Drew tells E! News. “They really hit the ground running in their relationship with the total last-second surprise wedding and then almost immediately after, a surprise pregnancy. They’ve got a lot of changes ahead of them and they will have to grow up really, really fast. We’re going to see how this pregnancy is affecting both of them, and it’s an emotional roller coaster as all things are on Grey’s Anatomy. It’s been really fun to explore that.”

Unfortunately, fans of April and Jackson’s relationship are going to have to wait a bit to really see that impending-parenthood story unfold.

“Our story arc doesn’t really start until a few episodes into the season,” Drew reveals. “We’re really just getting into it now. It picks up in episode 6.”

So when their story does start to unfold, what can fans expect to see?

“We’re going to see some interesting family dynamics,” Drew says. “April’s mom comes to visit [in episode 6] and I just love that episode. It’s interesting because marriage is a wonderful thing and it really forces two people to recognize that they’re very different in a lot of ways and part of that comes from your family origins. We’ve met her sisters and now we get to meet her mother.”

Being around her mother will have a major effect on April of which Jackson might not be the biggest fan.

“April turns into a teenager and regresses around her mother,” Drew says with a laugh. “It’s going to be interesting to see how Jackson handles it. What I love about the Jackson and April relationship is that they have such a deep friendship and such an incredible comfort level with one another that they’re not afraid to call each other out on their nonsense and apologize and forgive each other. It’s wonderful and warm but the dynamic of the mother and the daughter is something that I think a lot of mothers and daughters out there are going to really relate to and might even get uncomfortable about.”

‘Grey’s Anatomy’s’ Jesse Williams Slams NYT Critic: ‘This Person Knows Zero About Shonda Rhimes’

Posted by admin in Headlines Ι 0 Comments

TheWrap.com – The actor doesn’t hold back during an appearance on “The Queen Latifah” show

Another actor is speaking out about the controversial New York Times Shonda Rhimes piece that described the “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” creator as “an angry black woman.”

“Grey’s” star Jesse Williams stopped by “The Queen Latifah Show” for a segment that airs Thursday, and Williams slammed the article.

“This person knows zero about Shonda Rhimes,” Williams said of the author, Times critic Alessandra Stanley.

“I got bored by being offended,” Latifah added, about the length of the article and how rampant racial insensitivity is in the media.

Williams agreed. “Do you know how many characters Shonda Rhimes has created?” he asked. “Iconic, iconic characters, and how diverse they are? ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is the most incredible example of how it’s perfectly doable to have a diverse cast of people who are representing themselves and are whole human beings, and are not demonstratively Black or Asian, or female or Latino … just people being people.”

The showrunner herself fired back at the article, which has sparked a larger conversation about race.

“Wait. I’m ‘angry’ and a romance writer?!” Rhimes wrote Friday morning on Twitter. “I’m going to need to put down the internet and go dance this one out. [Stuff is] getting real.”

That same day “How to Get Away With Murder” star Viola Davis tweeted, “You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise!!!” Rhimes executive produces Davis’ new ABC drama.

The fallout has also cast a spotlight on the New York Times’ own newsroom diversity. Stanley, who was heavily criticized for her Sept. 18 review of “How to Get Away With Murder,” is part of the publication’s staff of cultural critics, which has 20 writers but only two people of color.

Grey’s Anatomy – “I Must Have Lost It on the Wind” Recap

Meredith recalls the day her mom lost her in the park. She was five. There were many other bad memories as well. She needs to talk about things with Alex, so she kicks Jo out of his bed. After all, it’s her house. Well, it was.

The next day, Meredith meets Maggie Pierce, the new head of cardio, during a dangerous chopper drop of a patient on the roof. A gurney goes over the side and impales a vehicle below, trapping a people inside.

Callie knows the young man inside the car. She doesn’t know the young woman with the head wound who was sitting on top of him. The harshness of the man’s mom and other factors has Arizona and Callie wondering about their future baby plans. Their chat is sidetracked by a surgeon (Geena Davis) who is looking to recruit Arizona for her fellowship.

An experience with the two kids hurt by the gurney has Callie thinking they should definitely get a surrogate. This decision could be derailed if Arizona decides to follow up on that fellowship thing.

Alex lets Bailey know that Cristina gave her board shares to Alex. However, according to the bylaws, new board members are appointed by a majority vote by other members. That means Bailey and Alex will have to duke it out.

Richard admits that he may have a daughter at an AA meeting. He had no idea Amelia was in the audience when he made his declaration.

April is hit hard when a father with a head injury dies after just trying to get his child’s Frisbee off the roof. She also tries to get some of the male docs to take Owen out to help him get over Cristina.

As for the deceased patient’s family, Amelia breaks the news to the wife while Derek talks to the man’s son. This latter conversation has Derek thinking about his own situation where he’s considering leaving his family behind for a job in DC.

A man who was wandering in the desert is brought in with severe dehydration. He’s desperate to find his family. They are still out there. Meredith breaks the news that he’s been wandering out there for months. His family is likely gone.

Dr. Pierce wants to examine their patient, but Meredith won’t let her do her thing. The patient begins to crash. Pierce comes in to save her while letting Meredith know that she’s not going to let her push her around. Bickering ensues. Richard overhears a follow up argument between Meredith and Maggie. He lets the latter know that he knows the two of them are sisters.

The hiker who had been wandering in the desert always sees his family when he sleeps. He sees his wife and daughter in his hospital room, only this time he is wide awake. After so many months, this loving family is finally reunited.

Alex lets Meredith know that it’s just them now. A long hug follows. In other news, Jackson admits to Richard that he’s freaked out by the thought of becoming a dad. He also lets him know that it would’ve been nice having him in the family if things had worked out with his mom.

Derek stops by Joe’s to let Meredith know that he resigned from the brain-mapping program in DC. He made this choice on his own. He chose to stay with his wife and their kids. Meredith needs a drink after this one. She sidles up to the bar where Maggie is already planted. They simultaneously order tequila. It’s eerie. It’s as if they are related.

Jesse Williams Instagrams Pic of His Daughter’s Feet Next to His

Posted by admin in Headlines Ι 0 Comments

Wetpaint.com - Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery) can always be seen wearing the hottest kicks, but now he’s showing off his “favorite footwear of all time” on Instagram — i.e. a photo of himself barefoot with an equally barefoot Sadie, his 7-month daughter!

“#ShoeGameHereditary” the 32-year-old adds in the caption.

It’s not the first photo Jesse has shared since he and wife Aryn Drake-Lee welcomed the baby girl in December — and the other snapshot also showed Sadie’s feet with his own, so you can’t be blamed if you’re experiencing déjà vu.

In that Instagram, taken in February when Sadie was just two months old, Jesse held up her foot (in a cute striped sock) in front of his (in a limited-run “Red October” version of the Nike Air Yeezy 2).

“#NoPlaceLikeHeezy #FirstThingsFirst #MonsterSocksAndMe #RedOctober Surprise #Yeezys2 #MaterialismMondays #OnWood” Jesse wrote in that caption.

Jesse Williams Accurately Describes Why I Spent Most Of My American History Class Rolling My Eyes

Posted by admin in Headlines, Videos Ι 3 comments

UpWorthy.com – Colonial Williamsburg is kinda like a live history-play where visitors walk around Williamsburg, Va., and see what life was like during the 18th century. In this clip, actor Jesse Williams (best known from “Grey’s Anatomy”) joins the cast in a Q&A after his stint as a guest artist. When the question “What are some ways that we can keep students interested in our country’s history?” came up, I doubt anyone was ready for the truth bombs he laid down in response.
